What you need to know about criminal justice architecture before you build
Project: Taylor County Detention Center

Location: Campbellsville, Kentucky

The Taylor County Detention Center is a new facility directly connected to the new Taylor County Judicial Center in downtown Campbellsville.  With state of the art security components, heating, ventilating air conditioning, plumbing and control systems the 32,500 square foot single story steel reinforced masonry and concrete structure provides the county with a secure and facility that is very economical to operate.

 

Confinement areas include isolation, detox, temporary secure holding, male and female dorms and cells comprised of minimum, medium and maximum security levels for a total inmate capacity of 217.  Program and support areas include a full service kitchen, laundry, vehicular sallyport, inmate visitation space, staff and inmate conference rooms, multi-purpose rooms, outdoor recreation space, staff locker rooms and lounge, booking area, administrative offices, public lobby and waiting area and a secure control room.  The connection to the Judicial Center provides direct access and enhanced security when transporting inmates to and from court appearances.

 

Mechanical and electrical systems include emergency smoke evacuation, heating, ventilating and cooling, emergency power, fire protection, electronic security controls, security cameras , camera   monitoring, recording, intercommunication and remote disturbance alarming.  All controlled and annunciated components and systems are integrated into the central control room operations system.

 

This project is complete.
