Project:
Taylor County Justice Center
Location:
Campbellsville, Kentucky
The
Project consists of the design and construction of a new stand-alone
judicial facility to meet the current and future program needs of
the court system. The proposed site is in downtown Campbellsville
at the corner of Main Street and South Central Avenue. The
site is generally flat with a slight slope down from front to rear.
All necessary utilities including electric, water, gas, telephone,
cable television, sanitary sewer and storm sewer are readily available
at the site.
The
building space program allocation includes one district court, one
family court and one circuit courtroom with related judge chambers,
jury rooms and related support spaces. Also included is space
for a law library; grand jury / hearing, prisoner handling, Circuit
Clerk offices, Court Designated Worker, Pretrial Services and Drug
Court office suites, office space for the Appellate Court and associated
security and facility support areas.
The
HVAC system will be water-source heat pump system. Heat pump
units will be located above ceilings throughout the building and
a cooling tower will be located at grade behind the building in
close proximity to the main building mechanical room at the first
floor. Fresh air will be provided by roof-top air handling
units with duct trunks down into the building. The building
will be fully suppressed (full sprinkler system) and be equipped
with a fire alarm system. Electrical will include all necessary
interior and exterior lighting, power and data communication throughout
the building. The building will be equipped with security
access control and monitoring systems as directed by the Administrative
Office of the Courts.
The
site development will include fenced and gated secure judges parking
and limited parking for court staff and the public. A vehicle
drop-off area from Main Street will be provided to allow vehicles
to unload passengers before moving on to park. Additional
parking will be available to court staff and the public off-site
adjacent to and near the new facility in the downtown area.
The building will be set back from and raised slightly above the
public street to provide a public plaza fore-court to the building
which will be paved and landscaped and which provides protection
of the building from vehicle intrusion.
