What you need to know about criminal justice architecture before you build
Project: Simpson County Courthouse Renovation

Location: Franklin, Kentucky

The new Simpson County Judicial Center is a 30,800 square foot courts complex reminiscent of the brick, two-story courthouse that currently serves Simpson County.   Finely detailed masonry and cut stone was used to simulate the strong architectural elements of the exiting County Courthouse and of the existing structures throughout downtown Franklin, Kentucky.   Horizontal stone base with brick walls, upper level arched windows and pronounced monumental entries are strong elements giving the character appropriate for the County's center of justice.

The new structure houses the Circuit and District Court systems including various departmental support entities.     The Circuit Clerk occupies a large portion of the first floor to support both the Circuit and District Courts.   Space is also provided for drivers testing.   Also included in the new building is a space for the long anticipated Family Court and the ancillary spaces associated with this courtroom.
