Project:
London Federal Courthouse Historic Renovation
Location:
London, Kentucky
After
designing the new Federal Courthouse for London, Kentucky, CMW was
chosen to renovate the original structure, which was built in 1911.
Because of our experience and recent successes in historic
renovations, we were the obvious choice to bring new life to the
neglected courthouse.
The
Administration felt that CMW possessed intricate knowledge of the
original building's architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical
and plumbing components and was therefore, best qualified and most
knowledgeable to perform the work. It was the understanding
of the owner that the expedited performance expected through CMW's
unique project knowledge would result in less risk and cost to the
Federal Government.
The
renovation includes interior space alterations, security upgrades,
exterior wall renovation, including restoration and replacement
(performed within the confines of the historical preservation requirements),
HVAC upgrades, life safety and elevator upgrades, ADA accessibility
and hazardous material abatement.
The
project was completed on time and within budget, exceeding the owner's
expectations of restoring the building to its original splendor.
