Project:
Harrison County Justice Center
Location:
Cynthiana, Kentucky
This
freestanding, two-story Judicial Center is located in downtown Cynthiana
across the street from the existing Harrison County Courthouse.
The classical architectural character of the new building
was developed to express a style simulating the existing courthouse.
The
facility is comprised of one District and one Circuit courtroom,
each with accompanying ancillary spaces, i.e. judges chambers, jury
deliberation suites, witness and conferencing rooms, and secure
holding areas. A multi-use room with related ancillary spaces
is included that supports hearing and grand jury functions and will
support future family court functions. The circuit clerk's
office is also located on the first floor of building. In
addition, offices for court support services including Court Designated
Worker and Pretrial Services are located in the building.
The
approximate area of the building is 28,000 square feet. Construction
began in the spring of 2001 and completed in the summer of 2002.
