Project:
Greenup County Regional Detention Center
Location:
Greenup, Kentucky
Due
to the pressure caused by the implementation of the Kentucky Jail
Standards and because of the size and condition of their previous
jail, Greenup County officials decided to construct a larger, compliant
detention facility. The proposed facility would not only meet the
County's needs for the next thirty years, but allow the County to
house non-county inmates for a fee to help pay for the facility
prior to being filled by their own inmates.
The
85-bed, full service facility is on one level and holds both male
and female adult offenders. Like Carroll County, it is connected
to a new courthouse complex. A single corridor allows for
easy access to both facilities and lessens the possibility of escape
and other problems during transportation out of the jail.
